{"id":59,"date":"2021-07-29T22:30:19","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T22:30:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hostduplex.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=59"},"modified":"2023-04-24T20:04:11","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T20:04:11","slug":"how-to-install-dell-openmanage-on-xcp-ng-8-2","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.hostduplex.com\/kb\/article\/how-to-install-dell-openmanage-on-xcp-ng-8-2\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Install Dell OpenManage (OMSA) on XCP-ng 8.2"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>This tutorial describes how to install the Dell OMSA (OpenManage Server Administrator) on the open-source <a href=\"https:\/\/xcp-ng.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XCP-ng 8.2 hypervisor<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Installing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dell.com\/support\/kbdoc\/en-us\/000132087\/support-for-dell-emc-openmanage-server-administrator-omsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dell OpenManage Server Administrator<\/a> can be extremely helpful in diagnosing hardware issues with Dell PowerEdge servers. This KB is a how-to on installing Dell OMSA on XCP-ng 8.2 (the open-source version of Citrix XenServer). OMSA will allow you to monitor your RAID status, CPU temperature, ambient temperature, as well as configure your iDRAC settings. You can also modify your RAID policies within OMSA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">Note: XCP-ng has spent long hours quality-testing their packages.\u00a0The method below downloads packages directly from the CentOS-Base repository. While the following method worked fine in our lab, we ask you to proceed with caution.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>MANUAL INSTALLATION:<br \/><br \/>Step 1:<\/strong> Install the Dell RBU module:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre>yum -y install dell-rbu-module<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 2:<\/strong> Install the Dell OMSA Repository:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre>wget -O .\/bootstrap.cgi http:\/\/linux.dell.com\/repo\/hardware\/latest\/bootstrap.cgi ; chmod 755 .\/bootstrap.cgi ; echo \"Y\" | .\/bootstrap.cgi<\/pre>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 3: <\/strong>Modify \u00a0\/etc\/yum.repos.d\/dell-system-update.repo to support EL 7<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">EL7 support was removed after DSU_22.08.12 (August 2022). In order to support xcp-ng 8.2 (based off EL7), we must update the dell-system-update.repo to use the latest supported version.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre>sed -i 's#baseurl=https:\/\/linux.dell.com\/repo\/hardware\/latest\/os_independent\/#baseurl=https:\/\/linux.dell.com\/repo\/hardware\/DSU_22.08.12\/os_independent\/#g' \/etc\/yum.repos.d\/dell-system-update.repo ; sed -i 's#mirrorlist=https:\/\/linux.dell.com\/repo\/hardware\/latest\/mirrors.cgi?osname=el$releasever&amp;basearch=$basearch&amp;native=1#baseurl=https:\/\/linux.dell.com\/repo\/hardware\/DSU_22.08.12\/os_dependent\/RHEL7_64\/#g' \/etc\/yum.repos.d\/dell-system-update.repo<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/><\/strong><strong>Step 4: <\/strong>Install Dell OpenManage Server Administrator:<\/p>\r\n<pre>yum -y --enablerepo=base install srvadmin-all<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 5:<\/strong> Start the Dell OMSA service:<\/p>\r\n<pre>\/opt\/dell\/srvadmin\/sbin\/srvadmin-services.sh start<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 6:<\/strong> Edit the <em>\/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables<\/em> file and open port 1311 by adding the following line just above the second-to-last line that mentions <em>icmp-host-prohibited<\/em>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 1311 -j ACCEPT<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 7:<\/strong> Restart the iptables service<\/p>\r\n<pre>service iptables restart<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><br \/>Step 8:<\/strong>\u00a0You can now access OMSA via your browser: https:\/\/Your.IP.Address.Here:1311<\/p>\r\n<pre>https:\/\/YOUR.IP.ADDRESS.HERE:1311<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">Note: The Dell OMSA username is root.
